Latest Update Introduces Ranked Overhaul, Early Black Market Access, and Tactical Gameplay Enhancements

KRAFTON, Inc. has released Update 36.1 for PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS on PC, with the console version arriving June 19. This update delivers a major overhaul to the Ranked system, introduces early access to the 2025 Black Market, and applies sweeping balance and quality-of-life changes designed to elevate both competitive and casual play.
Ranked Changes and System Revamp
Update 36.1 introduces two new Ranked tiers—Crystal and Survivor—with Survivor now positioned as the highest competitive level. Additional changes have been made to add a deeper layer of strategy and choice, including:
- Duo Mode is now available in all regions
- Ranked Tiers and Rank Points are now unified across all party types (Duo/Squad) and perspectives (FPP/TPP), while RP rewards have been updated based on player feedback
- Gameplay elements and items previously exclusive to Normal Matches, such as the Recall System, Red Zone, BRDM-2 calls, Tactical Pack, and Zipline Gun, are now available in Ranked.
Black Market 2025 Arrives Early
Opening earlier than usual, the Black Market offers popular progressive weapon skins and Chroma variants in new weekly rotations through the Hideout. The market also includes a wide variety of items such as Contraband Crates, Workshop Passes, and special crafting content, giving players more options to choose from.
Gunplay and Balance Changes
Update 36.1 brings key weapon balancing changes, with both the AUG and VSS seeing direct changes to their damage and handling. Weapon spawn adjustments have also been made, with the VSS, Mini14, Sawed-Off, SCAR-L, S12K, and Vector now spawning across all maps. Meanwhile, weapons like Win94 (Karakin), G36C (Vikendi), QBU (Sanhok), DP-28 (Paramo), PP-19 Bizon (Erangel), and Mosin Nagant (Deston) are now map-specific.
Additional Enhancements
The latest update also introduces standardized vehicle controls, reduced reverse speeds, UI enhancements, and expanded free rewards. Notably, a new currency selection feature allows players to purchase select items with either G-Coin or BP, improving accessibility across the board. With these changes, PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS aims to deliver a more thrilling and strategic experience across all skill levels.
